Our next meeting will be Tuesday October 7th at 5:00 PM in Hardman Hall room 208. Our very own Alex Raby will be discussing one of the most controversial ethical issues of our time: Abortion. He will be presenting his paper on the various ethical theories surrounding the issue, including seriously considering whether or not males should have any sort input on the ethical nature of pregnancy and abortion. This should be a particularly charged meeting, so if you're like me and love heated action you won't want to miss this. Pertinent documents can be accessed via the links below:

OLD information This semester looks to be a promising one with many opportunities for those interested in philosophical pursuits. For starters we have some great classes available including our new professor Dr. Mark Walker's Applied Ethics course (Phil 328) as well as Dr. Lori K. Bursum's Business Ethics course (Phil 302).
More information about the Applied Ethics course can be accessed here
We will be having a new section of presentation requirements on the website (at some point, we promise!), but before it goes up, here are the basic things you need to know about presentations.
1.) There must be a handout to accompany the presentation.
2.) The handout must be made available to myself 1 week before the presentation to be put on the webpage.
3.) The presenter must include 1-2 sources.
Keep in mind that, for those of you who will be ATTENDING these presentations, this is for your convenience. If you choose not to read the handouts or sources, you will be more than welcome to show up anyway and just enjoy the presentations. It is, by no means, mandatory to have read these before hand.
OBJECTION!!
We will also be having an Arts and Science roster. This will be necessary for rounding up people to attend the Arts and Science Council meetings. We have been removed from the rollcall and we need to get back on there. Moreover, we need to start being more active and getting "Community Service" points for funding. The Roster will also be showing up along with an official calendar that I hope to have up on this website. If you haven't already signed up for the Sophia Forums, please do so, if possible.
We have a new scholarship opportunity starting up! The Ayne Rand institute is holding an Atlas Shrugged Essay Contest. The deadline is Sept 17, 2008, so get cracking!
