Intramurals Fall-08(Announcement)

NMSU Badminton Club is organizing a Badminton Intramural Tournament this Fall Semester. All Students, Faculty and Staff at New Mexico State University can participate in the Intramurals. This is a one day event to be held on Saturday the 18th of October in the Activity Center starting at 9:00 am in the morning.

There are no separate Men's and Women's events in the tournament. A doubles team can be any combination of men and women. Please send an email to suresh@nmsu.edu asking him to add you in the Singles or Doubles (mention partner's name) or both. If you are willing to participate in the Doubles hurry up! and find your partner. Please send your team information to Suresh before the 13th of October. Once the participants are finalized we will let you know about who you are going to play against.

Badminton is the fastest racket sport in the world. The speed of the shuttle can reach an amazing 205 mph.

Singles Draw and Doubles Draw will be posted when we have the final list of the participants.

Double Elimination Pattern

In the double elimination pattern each player(team) has to loose twice to be out of the tournament. A player(team) who looses once will enter the losing bracket and exits the tournament upon another loss. The player who emerges as the winner of the losing bracket will play against the winner of the winning bracket. They play till one of them has lost twice in the tournament. The winner emerges as the Champion and the loser as Runner. The looser of the loser's bracket stands at 3rd place.

Singles Tournament

The Singles tournament for the Fall-08 was held on 18th October, 2008 in the Rentfrow Gym starting at 9:00am. We followed a double elimination pattern. 16 players participated in it. Players were ranked from 1 to 16 and fed into the draw. For the first two rounds(Initial round + one round in both winner's and loser's bracket) each match is played for a single set of 21 points. The remaining matches were played for 3 set of 21 points. The bracket(on the right) show the results of all the matches played.

The remaining matches were played for 3 set of 21 points. The bracket(on the right) show the results of all the matches played.
