Chi Epsilon is the National Honor Society for civil engineers. The New Mexico State University Chapter was established in 1968. Students and graduates of civil engineering who demonstrate excellence in academics, ethics, and service are invited to join Chi Epsilon. Who: Faculty, Staff, Graduating Seniors, Chi Epsilon Initiates and Members
Cost: No cost for graduating students and Chi Epsilon initiates (paid by CE Department).
Otherwise, $27 per person, which includes: Red or Green chile enchiladas, rolled Beef tacos, whole beans, rice, cole slaw, chips and salsa, chile con queso & rolls.
Please RSVP and pay by Friday, April, 26th @ mpmann@nmsu.edu. Payment by cash or check may be brought to the Department of Civil Engineering office located on the second floor of Hernandez Hall, or turned in to Chi Epsilon officers.
Join Chi Epsilon NMSU on Friday, November 2, as we make a trip to the La Union Maze outside El Paso. Members who wish to attend should meet at 2pm in the student lounge of Hernandez Hall to carpool out to the maze. More information will be presented at the general meeting on Wednesday, October 31, or contact chapter officers with any questions. You can also visit the La Union Maze website at http://www.launionmaze.com/. This is a great opportunity to socialize with fellow members and new initiates and have some fun away from school and studies.
Chi Epsilon NMSU will be holding its Fall 2012 Ice Cream Social on Wednesday the 24th of October. The social will be set up in Maggard Courtyard of the Engineering Complex and begins at 4:00 pm. All members, students and staff, are welcome to join and meet this semester’s new initiates. The social will be followed by a mandatory meeting for the new initiates, while the next general meeting is scheduled for the following Wednesday, October 31. We hope to see everyone there and, as always, feel free to contact the chapter officers with any questions.
The NMSU chapter of Chi Epsilon held a BBQ to welcome back students for the fall 2012 semster last Thursday at the Dr. Maggard courtyard of the Engineering Complex. There was an awesome turnout of chapter members, faculty, and students from throughout the college of engineering. Even Dr. Peter Martin, newly appointed department head of civil engineering, came out to show his support for our student organization and take the chance to mingle with the student crowd.
The success of the BBQ was a great start to the semester and will hopefully continue as we move forward. The chapter officers are in the process of deciding what activities and community service projects will be placed on the schedule, so keep an eye out for updates and chapter meeting times.
The chapter would also like to thank Dr. Brad Weldon for accepting the position of Chi Epsilon Faculty Advisor and we look forward to working with him this semester.
