|Type 1 TD:
Can be positive. E.g. International Chamber
of Commerce, NATO, etc. But there is an inevitability and project of a
global division of labor despite the benevolence of multinational corporations.
E.g. Kanter warns that those who remain loyal to people and places will
be left behind i.e. Virtual global networks are here get used to it. This
is road to TD1.
TD1 organizes to preserve and defend the status quo (press here) e.g. NAAB TD1 of U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Business Roundtable, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), the Associated General Contractors (AGC), Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC), the Labor Policy Association (LPA), the American Electronics Association, the National Defense Industrial Association, the American Council on Education, and more than 800 union and nonunion employers -- seek to block reguation of sweatshop and unsafe labor practice contractors.
Focus on rediscovering people and place, and on context. Lots of small players put pressure on TD1 players: E.g. Corporate Watch, Greenwash campaign, Nike Boycott Campaign, Maquiladora Watch, etc.
Frederick Jamesonís theory of late, multinational
capitalism which carries out a global division of labor in ways that fragments
the self and the social tries to put the divisions of labor and market
status quo back together. Some call this the postmodern condition. Here
we look at resistance.
TD2 example would be organizations such Croprate Watch, Governmant Accounting Office, seeking to regulate Violations of Safety and Health Regulations by Federal Contractors being defended by NAAB. The point is not to choose,
it is to see TD1 &TD2 networks doing dynamic interactions
(TD2) looks at ways to resist TD1 networks. E.g. Pioneering community organizing work of Saul Alinsky and the Emerys, as well as the more recent resistance campaigns to tame multinational capitalism conducted via the internet, such as the campaign against Nike, Disney, McDonalds.

We are a group of about forty scholars around the world who seek to discuss and debate the potential contribution of radical organizational theory.
