More than 60 years ago the United States banned child labor, sweatshops, long workdays and workweeks. But now we are subsidizing, encouraging and failing to criticize the enslavement of young people in the Third World. The so-called Third Wave, boosted by President Clinton and House Speaker Newt Gingrich in the form of GATT and the World Trade Organization prohibits member nations like the United States from discriminating against the importation of goods made by children.

There is a point where a network of organizations attempts either by efforts of its members or by the intrusion of some other network of organizations attempt to organize its relationships. To complete the division of labor, but on a global scale this is the function of TD1 and TD2.

• Lyotard’s (1984) expectation that local narratives be constructed to counteract universal and totalism narratives of modernism is a great challenge. Perhaps it is too great a challenge when you consider who owns the media and who accredits the business college.

• Alinsky TD2, as Weber would say, the dominant form of organization becomes the bureaucracy when the charismatic leader is succeeded. 
• The political strength of the IAF transorganizations comes from not getting into hot racial waters, and the structure appears to put the system into Weber’s bureaucratic ideal type.

• But, as Weber says, the bureaucratic system is much more long lasting, while the Alinsky forms revert to feudal or to bureaucratic systems.
