Concept Maps

Concept maps are hand drawn or computer generated graphic organizers that show how individuals perceive the relationships between concepts. The concepts are arranged in vertical rows or hierarchies with the most general concepts at the top and the least general concepts at the bottom.

I have my students use a software program called Cmap to create and collaborate on their concept maps. Cmap was developed by IHMC and is available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux. Cmap is free for teachers and students.  It can be downloaded at cmap.ihmc.us/download/

IHMC provides an online manual at http://cmap.ihmc.us/Documentation/
