SIGN CHECKLIST IDENTIFICATION
- Where does the problem exist?
- What is the nature of the problem?
PLANNING
- Who will supervise the project?
- What are the goals and objectives?
- Is there a time frame for completion?
EVALUATION
- What does the literature say?
- Will visits to other facilities be helpful?
- What method(s) will be used to evaluate current signage?
- What types of signs are currently in the library and what are their
- purpose?

- message?
- typeface?
- color?
- format?
- location?
- installation method?
- Will users be surveyed? If so, by what method?
- What funding sources are available?
- Are there any local experts to assist the library?
- Who is qualified to fabricate the signs?
DETERMINATION
- What new signs are needed?
- What are the specifications for each sign with regard to purpose,
message, color, size, location, typeface, format and installation method?
- Does the project need to be completed in stages?
- Who will be contacted for bids?
- What is the final sum needed to complete the project?
TESTING
- What form will the "test signs" take?
- How long will the testing last?
- What changes need to be made?
INSTALLATION
- Who has the authority to accept or reject finished products?
DOCUMENTATION
- Does the sign manual contain the new signs' specifications and reordering
information?
