Cultural Diversity in Healthcare
This well-designed site is maintained by a Professor of Anthropology and Nursing. The site contains articles on culture and healthcare, concepts relevant to understanding diversity in healthcare, and cultural profiles on various ethnic groups. Thirty case studies of conflicts and misunderstandings in healthcare settings are excerpted from the author's book. The case studies address both religious and ethnic groups. Last visited: 12/2009

Multicultural Health Clearinghouse
A project of the University of Illinois, the site appears to be aimed to U of I students, and consists primarily of a set of links for African Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Gays and Lesbians, Latino/a, Native Americans, Women, students w/ disabilities, and international students' health issues. Most links appear in the center frame, however some information appears in the right frame, therefore visitors to the site should keep an eye on the whole page. This design has led to an inconsistent arrangement of links. Provides no original information. Last visited: 12/2009

National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC)
Cultural competency is vital to health care and NCCC's mission "provides national leadership and contributes to the body of knowledge on cultural and linguistic competence within systems and organizations." The Center sponsers research projects, provides assessment tools, information about finding consultants, cultural brokering, curricula enhancement modules, and many other tools and resources (some in Spanish.) Take some time to explore this attractive site. Last visited: 12/2009

Transcultural Nursing: Basic Concepts & Case Studies
A husband and wife team maintain this site based on their experience as traveling nurses. Basic concepts are outlined and accompanied by an essay on the importance of cultural competence. Case studies concern Hispanic, African, and Asian Americans, and Middle Easterners. Two unique entries address the deaf and migrant communities. A bibliography is available. Last visited: 12/2009
