- Produced by the American Medical Student Association's Generalist
Physicians in Training initiative, this module is designed to educate,
provoke interest and help students develop opinions about culturally
competent medical care. Suggests activities, provides brief case studies
for individual or group learning experiences, definitions, criteria
of culturally competent care, questions for physicians and patients,
suggestions for using interpreters, and a variety of other information.

in Healthcare
- This well-designed site is maintained by a Professor of Anthropology
and Nursing. The site contains articles on culture and healthcare, concepts
relevant to understanding diversity in healthcare, and cultural profiles
on various ethnic groups. Thirty case studies of conflicts and misunderstandings
in healthcare settings are excerpted from the author's book. The case
studies address both religious and ethnic groups. Last

Contains a wealth of information, including clinical reviews, patient
information, links to online medical resources, etc. Use the search
feature to retrieve articles about specific patient populations or diseases.

Health Clearinghouse
- A project of the University of Illinois, the site appears to be aimed
to U of I students, and consists primarily of a set of links for African
Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Gays and Lesbians, Latino/a, Native
Americans, Women, students w/ disabilities, and international students'
health issues. Most links appear in the center frame, however some information
appears in the right frame, therefore visitors to the site should keep
an eye on the whole page. This design has led to an inconsistent arrangement

Nursing: Basic Concepts & Case Studies
- A husband and wife team maintain this site based on their experience
as traveling nurses. Basic concepts are outlined and accompanied by
an essay on the importance of cultural competence. Case studies concern
Hispanic, African, and Asian Americans, and Middle Easterners. Two unique
entries address the deaf and migrant communities. A bibliography is
