Cultural Competency in Medicine
Produced by the American Medical Student Association's Generalist Physicians in Training initiative, this module is designed to educate, provoke interest and help students develop opinions about culturally competent medical care. Suggests activities, provides brief case studies for individual or group learning experiences, definitions, criteria of culturally competent care, questions for physicians and patients, suggestions for using interpreters, and a variety of other information. A bibliography rounds out this useful, introductory learning tool. Last visited: 8/2007

Cultural Diversity in Healthcare
This well-designed site is maintained by a Professor of Anthropology and Nursing. The site contains articles on culture and healthcare, concepts relevant to understanding diversity in healthcare, and cultural profiles on various ethnic groups. Thirty case studies of conflicts and misunderstandings in healthcare settings are excerpted from the author's book. The case studies address both religious and ethnic groups. Last visited: 8/2007

Contains a wealth of information, including clinical reviews, patient information, links to online medical resources, etc. Use the search feature to retrieve articles about specific patient populations or diseases. NOTE: Registration required. Last visited: 8/2007

Multicultural Health Clearinghouse
A project of the University of Illinois, the site appears to be aimed to U of I students, and consists primarily of a set of links for African Americans, Asian/Pacific Islanders, Gays and Lesbians, Latino/a, Native Americans, Women, students w/ disabilities, and international students' health issues. Most links appear in the center frame, however some information appears in the right frame, therefore visitors to the site should keep an eye on the whole page. This design has led to an inconsistent arrangement of links. Provides no original information. Last visited: 8/2007
