About HKN

We are the Gamma Chi Chapter of Eta Kappa Nu. This chapter was founded at New Mexico State University located in Las Cruces, NM. Eta Kappa Nu, or HKN, is a national honor society for electrical and computer engineers. It serves to uphold the ideals and principles for quality engineering discipline and ethics. HKN initiates those outstanding junior and senior EE students that have maintained high grade point standards as well as met certain character requirements of this organization. The history of Eta Kappa Nu goes way back to the early part of the 20th century to the year 1904. A small group of students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign had an idea of an organization filled with electrical engineering's most worthiest candidates. The bottom line is that I am probably telling this story all wrong. If you'd like to know the true history then check out the National Headquarters website.
