Pledges

The list of requirements for pledges is below:

• Completion of signature book
• Wear resistor until Smoker
• Attend Smoker and Banquet
• Attend minimum of 2/3 of the meetings
• Tutor minimum of 4 hours
• Complete 4 hours of community service
• Write pledge letter stating why you should be initiated into HKN (please make it humorous)
• Put on skit for senior banquet
• Pay $60 one time life-time membership fee

Signature Book

The signature book must be filled out by 2/3 of the faculty whose names appear in it and by all of the faculty whos names have an asterisk. The book will be signed by all the officers at the smoker at which time it will be handed over. The book can then be given back to the pledge if they desire.

Resistor

Without exception, the resistor will be worn Monday - Friday from sun up to sun down and to all HKN general meetings. Resistors do not have to be brougth to weekend events. Any pledge caught without his/her resistor must buy the member who caught them a 12 oz beverage of the members choosing. Pledges can owe a max of drink for the infraction committed in a single day per member. Any number of members may be catch the pledge on a given day though.

Smoker and Letter

A smoker will be held each semester and must be attended by all the pledges. After the smoker, the pledges will no longer have to carry their resistors. Spring 2010 smoker will be at Sal's house on April 29th at about 7 pm. Letters must be brought to the smoker

Banquet and Skit

Each semester HKN and IEEE put on a banquet for the graduating seniors the Pledges must attend the banquet and perform a skit of their design and choosing

Community Service

Chapter service also satisfies this requirement.

Fee

The entrance fee may be paid anytime before the smoker, but pledges are encouraged to pay it as soon as possible in order to get their paperwork processed asap.
