about me
I am an Assoicate Professor of Rhetoric and Professional Communication in the English Department at New Mexico State University. I regularly teach courses in multimedia theory and production, document design, technical, scientific, and professional communication, and online writing pedagogy. I also developed and run the Design Center at NMSU, where students engage in hands-on development of digital and print media for campus and community clients.
I received my PhD from Michigan Technological University in 2003. My dissertation examined the design and development of a science-based multimedia website for middle school students. My current research interests include new media, information design, professional and workplace communication, and issues of pedagogy for face-to-face and online classes.
When I'm not working, I enjoy being outdoors and spending time with friends, family and my dog. Camping, traveling, and playing soccer are some of my favorite pastimes. I also love gardening, but haven't yet mastered how it's done in the desert.
