Biographical Information
John Taylor became the Head Performance Training Professional at
New Mexico State University in 1992, prior to that he spent 3 years
as an assistant football coach and Special Teams coordinator for the
Aggies. John came to New Mexico State after serving as an Assistant
Football coach and Physical Education Instructor at the University
of Nebraska Kearney. He played football at the University of Wyoming
(1980-84).
John has presented concepts of Performance Training locally, nationally,
and internationally. He has worked with the Chinese Olympic Committee
instructing coaches as well as students in Japan, Ireland and Bahrain.
John has had several professional articles published and Coe-authored
a text book chapter in the Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning.
He was named the 2001 College Strength and Conditioning Professional
of the year. In 2007 he received the New Mexico State University First
Light Federal Credit Union Staff Achievement Award.
John is an adjunct instructor in Human Performance Recreation and
Dance Department and the Student Success Center. He is active in the
community and has served on the Dona Ana County Health and Human Services
Alliance since 2005, previously as the Vice Chair of the Executive
Committee and is currently the Chair of the Policy Committee.
John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds
a BS in Physical Education and an MS in Athletic Administration and
Sports Management from the University of Wyoming. John, his wife Lisa
and their three children reside in Las Cruces.
