Biographical Information

John Taylor became the Head Performance Training Professional at New Mexico State University in 1992, prior to that he spent 3 years as an assistant football coach and Special Teams coordinator for the Aggies. John came to New Mexico State after serving as an assistant football coach and physical education Instructor at the University of Nebraska Kearney. He played football at the University of Wyoming (1980-84).

John is professionally active, his professional contributions and recognitions include;

Authored articles for the Strength and Conditioning Journal

• Co-authored a chapter in the third addition of the Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning text

• International, national and local presenter

• New Mexico NSCA State Director from 1995-1997

• Founder and Past President of the New Mexico Strength and Conditioning Association, inc.

• 1999 and 2004 NSCA Presidents Award recipient

• 1997 Big West Conference Strength and Conditioning Professional of the year

• National College Strength and Conditioning Professional of the year 2001

• Fellow and Coach Practitioner of the NSCA

• 2007 New Mexico State University First Light Federal Credit Union Staff Achievement Award.

John is an adjunct instructor in Human Performance Recreation and Dance Department. He is active in the community and serves on the Dona Ana County Health and Human Services Alliance as the Vice Chair of the Executive Committee and the Chair of the Policy Committee.

John is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds a BS in Physical Education and an MS in Athletic Administration and Sports Management from the University of Wyoming. John, his wife Lisa and their three children reside in Las Cruces.
