Biographical Information
Matt Walter joined the New Mexico State Performance
Training Staff in January of 2005. Matt came to NMSU from Southeastern
Louisiana where he served in the same capacity. Walter previously
served as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at
Louisiana Tech (2003) and began his strength and conditioning coaching
career at his alma mater, Northwestern Oklahoma State (2001-02). Here
he also served as the team’s offensive line and tight end coach.
Matt is a Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
The Azle, Texas, native made quite a name for himself as a player
at Northwestern Oklahoma State. During his career with the Rangers,
he finished as the school’s all-time leading rusher with 2,548
yards and led Northwestern to a national title in 1999, defeating
#1 ranked Georgetown (Ky ) and the runner-up spot in 2000. He was
an NAIA honorable mention All-America pick.
Matt earned a Master's of Education degree from
Northwestern Oklahoma State University and Bachelor’s of Science
in Education from Northwestern Oklahoma State.
