Methods

Daily quizzes are given over homework material.

A lecture format is used to present new material
with concepts being introduced and then students given an opportunity to
work selected problems before going on to additional new material.

Students are encouraged to learn how to use calculators
along with traditional methods of calculation.

All classes include an introduction to the graphing
calculator TI83.

All students registered in CCDM 103N are required
to get e-mail accounts within the first two weeks of class.

All students registered in CCDM 114N are required
to get e-mail accounts within the first two weeks of class and to register
at CCDM114's WebCT site.

E-mail is used to communicate with the teacher
and fellow classmates.

Two assignments on the internet will be required
of all students.

All students will work in groups of fours through
out the semester.

For the Spring semester of 2000, CCDM114NA will
be using Maricopa Mathematics Modules developed at the community college
system of Maricopa County, Arizona. The approach of these modules involves
discovery-based kearning in which students interact with the math through
activities, enabling them to commect math to the real world. Students will
be expected to work in groups, to read and to learn to think about math.
