Vocal Range Profile (VRP) is a representation of a clients minimum and maximum intensity levels across his/her vocal range. Phonetograms are graphical representations of the vocal range profile. Frequency, as well as intensity ranges are measured yielding quantitative measures. The following characteristics can be obtained when establishing the vocal range profile:
Total fundamental frequency range
Lowest and highest fundamental frequencies
Total intensity range
Lowest and highest intensity range
VRP shapes and contours
(Heylen, L., et. al., 1998)
Vocal range profiles can be used in treatment and assessment. These areas will be discussed in the clinical application section.
