The Hispanic Family Violence Institute now goes by the name of Encuentro Latino National Institute on Family Violence

Description: The Institute is a collaborative project between the New Mexico State University (NMSU) School of Social Work, a federally designated Hispanic-serving institution, and La Casa, Inc, a domestic violence service provider with a predominantly Hispanic client population. The Institute provides technical assistance, training, and consultation that is informed through the recommendations of consultants, advisors, and working groups with the aim of improving the cultural relevancy of domestic violence service delivery and resource utilization.
The Institute will provide national training on family violence and Hispanics using a variety of training modalities, including symposiums, conferences, community outreach, on-site technical assistance, webinars, and teleconferences. In addition, the Institute is in the process of developing a website that will host online publications and curriculums, as well as other useful information relevant to Hispanics and family violence.
The Institute works to further the knowledge base in regards to family violence and Hispanics through research and dissemination of culturally competent approaches. This includes college-level courses on family violence, student-led research projects, and presentations at national conferences. The Institute also promotes best practices in regards to Hispanic populations and domestic violence through providing information on promising techniques related to program implementation, service delivery, and evaluation.
