Day Three:

Today we left to explore the north part of the island.  After traveling to higher elevations, we passed the Parker Ranch headquarters and headed into Honoka`a.  The next set of pictures depict the northern coastal view known as Waipi`o Valley Overlook.

Can you tell we were in the sun the day before?

The island of Maui is becoming apparent.

This was sure a stark difference from where we had been.  Diversity is the norm.  Solomon was safe in the shade.

Solomon makes his appearance.  Time to move up the coast.

We backtracked a bit to head for Polulu, but we did stop in the quaint town of Hawi.  We had fish tacos and Mikela bought a hand crocheted beaded shawl.  She was radiant.  The rest of us bought salve that helped with our sunburn.

This view is from Pololu, another beautiful overlook.

This view is actually looking south to Waipi`o.

Seems a bit hazy, but I think it is the camera.  Maui emerges.

We were a bit packed in the Blazer and we left for home.  After passing many life zones, we headed for the condo to rest up for dinner at the Hilton.  Aunt Kathy ensured that we get a good table outside.

After a couple of Martinis and great conversation about our travels, we began with seared Àhi with soy sauce and wasabi.  Even Fletch liked it!  We were now awaiting our ocean view of sunset number three.

The heat of the day dissipating...the cool breeze and the visual calming effect of the sun-set emerged.  Again, we awaited the green flash.

Enjoy sunset number 3!

This was a terrific meal.  Thank you Kathy & Jim!

Aunt Kathy contemplates a special after-dinner boat ride through what looked like Michael Jackson's Never-Never Land.

Uncle Jim is excited about the boat ride too!

We're on the boat and taking a relaxed tour of the expansive Hilton Waikoloa Village complex.
