Hollandia, Dutch New Guinea, was occupied by
the Japanese in 1942 in the general collapse of Allied forces at the start
of the war. Its airfields were destroyed as a viable unit by the Army
Air Corps in early April 44 and was taken by the Allies in early May.
McArthur made Hollandia his headquarters before the Philippines Invasions.
The same spot on the map can be called Djajapura,
Hollandia, Kotabura or Sukarnapura depending on when it was made.
