| Chapter 14 : Discipline Through Synergy and Reducing Causes of Misbehavior Questions and Activities |
| 1. In your journal, add information from this chapter that you might wish to include in your personal system of discipline.
2. To what extent do you feel you could put synergetic teaching and discipline into effect in your classroom? What portions do you believe you could implement easily? What portions do you believe might be difficult? 3. Synergetic Discipline does not punish students for misbehavior nor does it apply penalties or other measures to try to force student compliance. Do you think students will take advantage of Synergetic Discipline's softer nature, that they will disregard the teacher because they have no fear of the consequences? Is there anything in Synergetic Discipline that would prevent their doing so? 4. If you introduce Synergetic Discipline as Charles suggests, a few days might pass before students know exactly what is expected of them in the discipline system. Charles suggests you stress personal consideration until the plan is presented to students. Can you think of two or three other things you might do to keep students from misbehaving during the first days of class? |
