Remember to evaluate the Internet sources for relevancy and scholarship. What is the date of publication? Is the information from a refereed or a nonrefereed journal? (In a refereed journal, articles are reviewed by a panel of experts in the field and must follow specific research guidelines.) Does the author present information from a personal point of view and/or a variety of points of view? Is the information accurate, unbiased, and evidence-based? Does the source add to your knowledge base? |
Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID), Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD), Bipolar Disorder, Learning Disabilities (LD). Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD), Rage Use the questions, Web sites below, and other credible resources to further investigate and reflect on critical topics in this chapter. Discuss them with interested individuals in your setting or with a small group in an electronic Chat Room. 1. Select one of the NBB topics in Chapter 3 to investigate further on the Internet. What are key ideas that you learned about the topic? How do your own experiences compare to the information you found? What may you do differently to support a more positive learning environment because of what you learned? 2. Investigate one of the NBB topics for causes of and how to diagnose and treat the disorder. How may having this new knowledge impact what you do? How may you integrate the knowledge into your Personal System of Discipline? 3. Use information gained from one of the investigations above to design a lesson to teach others in your setting about the NBB. Share ideas for the lesson face-to-face or in an online Chat Room with a small group of individuals. Seek their feedback on additional ways to educate others about the NBB. |
