Robert called meeting to order at 11:36

- Announcements There will be a GSC meeting on Thursday at 5PM in the New Mexico Room (Corbett Center). The schedule of upcoming meetings can be found at www.nmsu.edu/~gsc.

GRAS submissions are now being accepted. All psychology graduate students are encouraged to submit their abstracts. Visit www.nmsu.edu/~gsc/gras for more information.

- Bylaws and PGSO funding The following questions were brought up at the meeting (now that we’re considering fundraising): Should we change the bylaws so that those seeking funding don’t have to apply to other sources first (e.g., ASNMSU, GSC)? Should we require that they request funding from the department first? Should we still allow presenters and non-presenters to ask for funding? Should people be required to participate in fundraisers in order to obtain funding?

Kyle and Mary volunteered to draft a bylaw and will ask for comments/suggestions at the upcoming meetings. Once everyone has a chance to review the suggested changes, we can hold a vote at one of the meetings.

- PGSO Representative to Faculty Meetings Jim McDonald wants us to draft a proposal addressing the reasons why we feel it’s necessary to have a representative at faculty meetings. He will then present the proposal to the faculty and they will vote on it. Mary volunteered to write a draft of the proposal.

- Fundraising: Burrito Sale The burrito sale was postponed. We will be having a burrito sale on Wednesday, April 4. Mary will be posting a formal sign up sheet for volunteers.

- Faculty Faceboard Dom Simon had set out to replace the “Who we are and What we do” board on the 2nd floor with a display that was easier to maintain and update when people come and go. This seems like a good project for PGSO. Robert will talk to Dom about the details of the project.

- Undergrad Website Tim has an idea to have PGSO help in creating an undergraduate webpage that will appeal to prospective students and help with recruitment efforts. If we have someone take over as an informal webmaster for this project, in the future it’s possible to propose to have a GA position for departmental webmaster.

- Faculty Appreciation Lunch Kyle will either contact Bea or Jim McDonald about a possible lunch after Spring Break.

- Community Service Check your email for upcoming opportunities (e.g., GRAS, the Big Event, Aggie Day, etc.)
