By-Laws of the New Mexico Partnership for Mathematics and Science Education Section 1. Membership A. Membership in NMPMSE is open to all individuals who are interested in its purposes as described in Article II, Section 1, of the Articles of Incorporation. B. Applications for membership will be available at all meetings and may be submitted to any of the officers. C. Membership renewal forms will be available at the Annual Business Meeting. D. Members not present at the Annual Business Meeting will be sent a membership renewal form with the notice for the following meeting. E. All membership renewals must be submitted on or before the meeting following the Annual Business Meeting. Section 2. Board of Directors A. Directors will serve for two years and may run for reelec tion. B. Each year half, five mathematics and five science, of the Directors will be elected by the membership at the Annual Business Meeting. C. Procedures for a 1994-5 transition period 1. Directors filled by vacancies created in 1994 will serve until the Annual Business Meeting in 1995. 2. All Directors' terms will expire at the Annual Business Meeting in 1995. 3. The ten candidates, five mathematics and five science, who receive the most votes at the 1995 Annual Business Meeting will be elected to serve two year terms, and the remaining ten candidates will serve for one year. Section 3. Amendments The by-laws may be amended by the following procedures: A. All amendments must be submitted in written form. B. Any member(s) may propose amendments. C. Proposed amendments may be presented at any meeting. D. A vote will be taken from the membership present at the time the proposed amendment is submitted. E. If a simple majority vote is received, the proposed amendment will be submitted to the entire membership by mail ballot within 30 days. F. Amendments shall take effect at the next meeting when approved by a simple majority of those members who return a vote on or before that meeting. 4/10/95
