History 400/500 Special Topics: Time Traveling to New Mexico's Past (3 credits) Students will read and discuss assigned texts, research a distinctive time period from New Mexico's past, and then develop and perform a character using that research.
History 483/583 Historic Preservation (3 credits) Study of community development, the historic preservation movement, and the built environment. Field project and additional graduate work.
History 484/584 Historic Editing, Theory and Practice (3 credits) Readings in historical editing and projects in editing at the university archives. Includes editing papers and helping to produce a scholarly journal.
History 486/586 Guiding Heritage Tours (3 credits) Readings in the issues of heritage tourism and instruction in guiding heritage tours.
History 489/589 Projects in History (3 credits) Individual projects in history. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
History 585 Public History Internship (3-6 credits) Individual project in an area of public history, including a final written report. Research project required. Prerequisite: consent of instructor.
History 587 Public History Seminar (3 credits) Introduction to the discipline of public history, including its methodology and literature. Field work is required.
History 588 Oral History Seminar (3 credits) Research seminar that explores the use of oral histories as primary sources for documenting, interpreting, and writing history.
History 590 America: History and Memory (3 credits) Reading seminar focusing on history and memory in the postwar period. Also it explores the culture wars that have erupted over how history is taught, exhibited, and remembered.
History 400 (03)/579 Advanced Oral and Community History (3 credits) Exploration of the theories and methodology of oral history interviews and transcribing. Students conduct and transcribe an oral history interview.
Anthropology 540 Cultural Resource Management (3 credits) Survey of the legal foundation of cultural resource management and the role of archaeologists in land use and project planning.
Anthropology 545 Advanced Museology I (3 credits) Museum philosophy, history, administration, and collection management. Emphasis on collecting, cataloging, care, and exhibition, as well as ethics, public responsibility, and grantsmanship.
Anthropology 546 Advanced Museology II (3 credits) Special problems in collections management, exhibition, education, and other related museological topics.
