Poster Judging Criteria

N/A = not applicable
0 = miserably done
1 = insufficient at best
2 = a little less than it should be
3 = just as expected from a grad student
4 = good work, definitely presentable
5 = outstanding or excellent work

CONTENT

Organization &. Clarity


Does the poster show a clear and logical organization? Is the material organized is sensible and appropriate way?I


Does the presenter make good use of the space provided? Is there a good balance between text and visual elements?


Do the visual elements contribute to the understanding of the work? Are they appropriate in explaining the question, the data, or the conclusions?


Is the poster clear and understandable? Are tables, figures, and graphs clearly labeled? Can the poster be read easily from a reasonable distance?


Is the poster self-explanatory? Can you understand the research without asking for clarification?


Is the poster professional and scholarly? Is it free of misspellings and typographical errors?

Question or Thesis:


Does the investigator present a clear research question or thesis?


Does the investigator ground the question of thesis in the theory or literature in the field; does he/she make clear the significance of the research?

Methodology


Are the (preliminary) data and methods used appropriately? If the work has not been done, are the methods proposed adequate for the question?


Are the data and research methods used/proposed clearly justified by the investigator?

Research &. Conclusions


Are the (preliminary) results of the research shown clearly? (N/A if not present or applicable)


Is a thoughtful (preliminary) analysis of the data offered? (N/A if not present or applicable)


Are conclusions drawn that are clear and consistent with the research framework? If the poster is a proposal, does the investigator give an explanation of how certain data would lead to certain conclusions?
