Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons,
LDS)
- Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter Day Saints
- This very attractive site is the Church's official site. Check out
the Basic Beliefs section, which redirects visitors to a different
web address, and proceed to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
area to find the Church's position on controversial social issues, such
as abortion, homosexuality, and family/gender roles. Food and dietary
restrictions are very briefly addressed in the FAQ's General
section.
- Users seeking more health information should return to the official
church page and conduct a search using the Gospel Library section.
This section contains magazine articles from official LDS publications
since 1971. A search using the term "health beliefs" yield nearly 700
results dealing with a variety of issues, including tobacco, alcohol,
and physical fitness. More specific searches are suggested to narrow
results. Last Reviewed: 7/2007.
- An
Unofficial Introduction to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints
- This personal Web page is packed full of text and links. Unfortunately,
the page layout is textually dense and, therefore, difficult to locate
the desired health information. The Word of Wisdom section contains
some information regarding "health codes." Follow the link to Section
89 for the official text on these matters. Last Reviewed: 7/2007.
